For those of you who don’t know me, I am Susanna, and I love nothing more than the culinary world. I knew at 5 years old that I would someday cook for and entertain others.
I began my official culinary career at the age of 14. I was very fortunate to be mentored and trained by a classically-trained chef for seven years in Colorado Springs. She was very much like Julia Child. Her dishes were comforting, from scratch, and so incredibly tasty. She was highly organized, strict, and determined. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be where I am today. She taught me how to respect ingredients, keep things simple, savor food, appreciate good wine and cocktails, cook with passion, and to never give up.
For nearly 30 years, I have dedicated most of my time and energy to working next to and learning from talented chefs, establishing vital relationships with business owners, and cooking and baking on my own daily. I value my decades of kitchen work more than anything. This experience has and continues to teach me valuable life skills and confirms to me what I am meant to do. It has allowed me to blossom into who I am today, someone who is full of energy, enthusiasm, is highly relational, and always willing to go that extra mile.
In February 2022, my husband Ben and I decided to buy a restaurant! We purchased Fratelli on 124 N. Nevada Ave. We are overjoyed to operate our business in downtown Colorado Springs. Susanna’s Comfort Cuisine’s Bar & Bistro opened May 27th! We look forward to serving you our comforting menu and signature cocktails. Please check our website for updates on hours, events, and menus.
